2" 50.8 mm 4:1 Pitch Electroplated Spiral Bound Coil for Notebooks and Calendars
Spiral binding coils are one of the most popular traditional binding methods. They consist of a continuous helical coil made of durable and flexible nylon-covered wire that is rolled into holes along the binding edge. Compared to traditional plastic comb spines, spiral binding coils offer a modern binding alternative while being affordable and easy to use.
Another benefit of spiral-bound coils over many other binding methods is that coil-bound books are able to turn pages a full 360 degrees without damaging the content, so they lie flat and stay flat. This allows your pages to flip all the way from front to back for easier reading. Even after heavy use and bending, the spines bounce back to their original shape.
We are a factory, you can contact me at any time to customize the binding coil that suits you, we provide a variety of binding coil sizes, if you are not sure about your size, not sure about the spacing? Here are the steps on how to choose the binding coil you need to buy.
1) Choose a Coil Size (Diameter) ?
We offer a large selection of spiral binding coil sizes, and you can use the coil binding capacity chart below to help choose the best size based on your stack thickness or paper capacity. Please note that paper capacity is calculated using all 20 lb bond copy paper sheets (not pages) without any covers; this means it may vary greatly depending on the stock you use, this is where we recommend stacking thickness reason for the method. Remember: slightly larger coils are better than too small coils; small coils will not turn the pages smoothly and will pinch them, making them more prone to tearing. Therefore, if your size is between two sizes, we recommend that you size up.

2) Choose a Coil Pitch ?
Spacing refers to the number of holes per inch or the spacing of holes. It's reflected in a ratio that includes the number of holes, a punctuation colon, and then an inch measurement. For example: 4:1. This ratio is read aloud/pronounced "four to one" and means 4 holes per 1 inch of length.
The 4:1 pitch bundled coil spine is by far the most popular, with approximately 98% of customers ordering the 4:1 pitch screw binder. 5:1 is a special pitch made primarily for print shops with specialized equipment for punching and for users who may have machines made in certain countries where 5:1 pitch is more common. Some more specialized machines will have other coil hole patterns such as 3:1, 2.5:1 or even 2.231mm. Before buying a screw binder, you'll want to check the compatibility of your screw binder, but keep in mind that most machines are 4:1.
