Coil binding
- Spiral-bound plastic coils are one of the most popular traditional binding methods. They consist of a continuous helical coil made of durable and flexible plastic. For binding, these helical coil binding ridges are passed through several closely spaced holes and then curled around the edges. They allow your pages to flip front to back and are very flexible and durable so they spring back to their original shape even after heavy use and bending. This makes them the best binding solution for all kinds of textbooks, calendars, weekly calendars, and more.
- The biggest advantage of the spiral plastic coil is that its color is richer than the metal spiral coil. There is no limit to the number of plastic spiral coils, and the price is more favorable than metal spiral coils and Wire-O Binding.
- Plastic spiral coils are available in two materials, PVC and PET, the former is more affordable and the latter is higher quality.
- Spiral-bound coils offer a more modern and durable way to bind books on traditional comb spines. One of the advantages of spiral-bound coils over many other binding methods is that coil-bound books are able to turn pages 360° without Damage content so they can lay flat and stay flat.

If you want an alternative solution to choose the best size, you can utilize this general rule of thumb:
- Take the pages and covers being bound and lay the stack flat on a table.
- Measure the thickness of the stack, but don’t press down; let it lay naturally loose.
- Add 1/8" to the stack thickness - that will be the size of the binding coil recommended for your document thickness.
